Sleeping badly is horrible. And the real horror is that it doesn't have to be at all. In fact, there are powerful techniques to help you fall asleep. Mindfulness is fantastic. In this blog, I'll tell you one technique that will help you control the thoughts that keep you awake, so you can fall asleep peacefully.
The essence of mindfulness
The basic principle of mindfulness is to accept your thoughts without reacting to them. Why, well, whether you like it or not, you sometimes have negative thoughts. There is not much you can do about that in itself. The problem is that tensions, emotions and negative thoughts are disastrous if you want to sleep. Through mindfulness, you are not going to put attention or energy into negative thoughts that rear their heads. In fact, that is completely counterproductive. By focusing on negative things in particular, you make yourself even busier. And tell yourself; does it make any difference? No, it does not! For that matter, it doesn't stop raining either because you are making yourself unutterably busy. So it is with negative thoughts, too. So what should you do?

The technique of the moving box
Do you suffer from negative thoughts so you can't fall asleep? Then try the moving box technique. It works during the day too, by the way 🙂 Put all your negative emotions and thoughts in a symbolic moving box and put it away somewhere in your mind. Doesn't matter where, in the attic, in front of the door or in the hallway, as long as you physically say goodbye to it in your mind. In other words, let it all go for a while. Take it from me: it works! You will find that this exercise calms you down, making it much easier to fall asleep. And if you ask me, you better leave that box somewhere for good 🙂 .
